William Green Jr., of the City of Poughkeepsie, was arrested at 10 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 30, after Town of Poughkeepsie police responded to a report of domestic violence at the Vassar Garden Apartments, said Capt. Michael O'Dowd.
When officers arrived at the apartment they found Green being restrained on the ground by another man, O'Dowd said.
An investigation into the dispute found that Green had been involved in a domestic dispute with his girlfriend earlier in the evening. A neighbor heard the arguing and attempted to calm the situation down, police said.
Green then went to the neighbor’s apartment, kicked in the door, and entered the apartment.
Once inside Green began punching the man in the head with a bottle. At that point, a woman attempted to stop Green who then began punching the woman, O'Dowd said.
Other uninvolved neighbors heard the disturbance and responded to the apartment and restrained Green until the police arrived, he added.
Both victims were transported to a local hospital for their injuries where they were treated and released.
Green was charged with felony burglary and felony assault and is being held at the Dutchess County Jail.
